HubSpot CRM integration with Trustmary

The native integration to HubSpot is available with our Premium Integrations add-on. The add-on can be purchased on the Billing page in Trustmary.

Introduction

In this article, we guide you through the steps needed to connect Trustmary with HubSpot via our native integration. The guide consists of a set of simple steps with screenshots to make the integration process as easy as possible for you.

Integrating HubSpot with Trustmary opens up possibilities, for example, to automatically send surveys to specific HubSpot contacts or include the NPS gathered through Trustmary with your HubSpot contacts.

Quick steps

  1. Log in to Trustmary, open the Integrations tab, and click Integrate next to HubSpot.
  2. Sign in to HubSpot and confirm the connection.
  3. Head back to Trustmary, open Integrations, and set up triggers to automatically send surveys to your contacts.
  4. Define the rules for syncing response data back to HubSpot.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Go to the Trustmary app, open the Integrations section, and search for HubSpot.

You can find the integrations section with the link here.

  1. After clicking Integrate, you will be redirected to a page where you can select the HubSpot account you want to connect.

  1. Create your first trigger

Once you have connected your HubSpot and Trustmary accounts, you can start automating the surveys.

Click Add trigger to create your first automation.

The automation setup consists of three stages: Setup trigger, Map contact fields and Set action

  • Set up trigger = Choose a trigger event from the drop-down list of available HubSpot events.
  • Map contact fields = Select which data to sync from HubSpot to Trustmary and map it to the correct fields.
  • Set action = Pick the Trustmary survey you want to send when the trigger occurs.

You can create as many triggers as you wantTo get more data from HubSpot, you may need to create new custom fields first (learn how to create custom fields)

  1. Settings for syncing data back to HubSpot

New response will create a new Trustmary review item

  • This will create a new review item into HubSpot each time a response matching the trigger is given. This will enable you to save historical data of your answers for your customers, and can be very useful when analyzing feedback.

New response updates contact fields

  • When turned on, this will update the contact fields on your HubSpot based on the response data in Trustmary. Please note the field values will be overwritten. Keep the first toggle on to save previous answers to HubSpot.

Map response to contact fields

  • This setting lets you map responses from selected survey questions to specific HubSpot contact fields. It also allows multiple surveys to update different properties — for example, “Survey A” could update “NPS from Survey A,” while “Survey B” updates “NPS from Survey B.” This is especially useful if your HubSpot account doesn’t use custom objects.

Create new leads

  • Automatically create new HubSpot leads from survey responses. When your Trustmary survey includes lead-related questions, this setting enables automatic creation of new leads in HubSpot.

Synchonize contact subscription status

  • This keeps your HubSpot contact subscription statuses in sync with Trustmary.

Manually creating the Custom Object

Installing the Trustmary application to HubSpot should automatically create a Trustmary review item (if supported by the HubSpot plan) into which the answer data is synced back to. If for some reason the Trustmary review item can't be created automatically, you can create one yourself with the correct properties in HubSpot settings.

To create a Trustmary review item in HubSpot, follow these steps:

  1. Open HubSpot Settings (the cogwheel icon at the top).
  2. From the Settings **menu, locate **Objects.
  3. Scroll down in the Objects **category to find **Custom Objects.
  4. Click on Create Trustmary review item, and in the creation flow give the object the internal name trustmary_review. The display name can basically be anything you want, but we recommend naming it Trustmary Responses or similar.
  5. Navigate back to Settings, select Properties, and Create property.
  6. Create a new property to the Trustmary review item. HubSpot requires you to create one manually, but the rest will be automatically created once a response is received. You can add for example one with the internal name "text" and type "text":
  • text: text

After these steps, everything should be configured for you to sync the answer data back to HubSpot.
