Start off by navigating to the Widgets feature from the navigation bar. Here you can view and manage all your existing widgets. Next, start creating a new widget by clicking on Create new widget in the top right.

You're greeted with the use case selection screen. Once you select one of the suggested use cases, you can see all the widget templates that are related to that use case. Select one that works for you the best and move on to the next step by clicking Continue in the bottom right corner.

Some widget templates have multiple versions, such as the Inpage and Popup versions shown here. You can preview both before clicking Continue again in the lower right corner.

You're then transported into the widget editor. This editor works very similarly to all the other editors in Trustmary, such as the survey editor.

The main points of interest here are:

  1. Options

    1. Here you can set all kinds of things relating to the appearance of your widget, such as a theme colour, header and paragraph texts, and which testimonials to display. The options differ a bit depending on which template you've chosen.

  2. Tabs

    1. With the tabs near the top of the screen you can change the current view. The default view is the Editor, where you can see a preview of your widget. In the Add to website tab you can grab the embed codes, and in some templates set rules and conditions for the widget. The Integrations tab contains all the apps the widget's functions can be integrated with (if this is included in your plan). Lastly, the Results tab contains all the feedback and testimonials you've gathered with the widget. Note that some widgets do not gather testimonials, so the tab is omitted from them.

  3. Activation toggle

    1. This toggle is simply for activating or deactivating the widget, so you don't need to remove the code if you want to pause the use of the widget.

Installing testimonial widgets

Getting the embed code

Start by navigating to the Widgets section in Trustmary. In there, select a widget or create a new one.

Once in the widget editor, select the Add to website tab at the top of the screen. Here you'll find the code snippets needed to embed the widgets.

What to do with the snippets?

Note, that there are two snippets of code that serve different purposes.

The first snippet, Trustmary tag, is a global script which enables the loading of the widgets. This script needs to be installed once, either with Google Tag Manager or inside the <head> tag of a website. We recommend installing the script with Tag Manager, as scripts installed like this are activated more reliably and with less interference to other components of a site. For the installation process, check out our guide.

The second snippet is the embed code itself, and is only found on the non-popup types of embeds. This snippet loads for example a testimonial display widget into where it is placed on the site.

Widgets can be easily created from the widgets section and can be used to simply and beautifully display your testimonials or to gather new leads.

Both of the two code snippets can be found under any widget, in the Add to website tab.

For the installation process, you'll only need to install two snippets of code; The Trustmary tag snippet with Google Tag Manager or once into the <head> element on your site, and the embed code on the site where you want the testimonial widget to appear.
