Introduction

Start off by navigating to the Widgets feature from the navigation bar. Here you can view and manage all your existing widgets. Start creating a new widget by clicking on Create new widget in the top right.

You're greeted with the use case selection screen. Once you select one of the suggested categories, you can see all the widget templates that are related to that use case. Below them you can also see a recommended widget from that category.

Pick the one that works for you the best either from the recommendation or scroll down for more options.

Selecting a widget template opens up a preview window. In this window you'll see that some widget templates have multiple versions (Inpage or Popup). You can preview both before clicking Continue in the lower right corner.

Next up is the widget editor. This editor works very similarly to all the other editors in Trustmary, such as the survey editor.

The main points of interest here are:

  1. Options

    1. Here you can set all kinds of things relating to the appearance of your widget, such as a theme colour, header and paragraph texts, and which testimonials to display. The options differ a bit depending on which template you've chosen.

  2. Tabs

    1. With the tabs near the top of the screen you can change the current view. Here you'll find:

      1. The Editor, where you can see a preview of your widget.

      2. Targeting options, where you can set when and where the widget appears if it's a popup.

      3. The Add to website tab where you can grab the embed codes.

      4. Options for Integrations (if this is included in your plan).

      5. Lastly, the Results tab contains all the data you've gathered with the widget. Note that some widgets do not gather data, so the tab is omitted from them.

  3. Activation toggle

    1. This toggle is simply for activating or deactivating the widget, so you don't need to remove the code if you want to pause the use of the widget.

Getting the embed code

Start by navigating to the Widgets section in Trustmary. In there, select a widget or create a new one.

Once in the widget editor, select the Add to website tab at the top of the screen. Here you'll find the code snippets needed to embed the widgets.

What to do with the snippets?

Note, that there are two snippets of code that serve different purposes.

The first snippet, Trustmary tag, is a global script which enables the loading of the widgets. This script needs to be installed once, either with Google Tag Manager or inside the <head> tag of a website.

We recommend installing the script with Tag Manager, as scripts installed like this are activated more reliably and with less interference to other components of a site. For help with the installation, check out our guide.

The second snippet is the embed code itself, and is only found on the non-popup types of embeds (inpage). This snippet loads a widget into where it is placed on the site.
