Overview

Here is the Popup & notifications section, which can be accessed by navigating to the Notifications section in the navigation bar on the left. Here you can see all of your popups, both active and inactive. You can access each popup by clicking on them and toggle their status (active or inactive) with the toggle on the right.

Next we'll take a closer look at what is included within this section.

Installing the script

For the popups to be displayed on your site, you will need to install the popup script from Trustmary. The source code is revealed by clicking on the Install script button on the main page.

The most reliable way to do this is to first install Google Tag Manager and then install the popup script to your site through Tag Manager. This ensures the popup will trigger every time it is supposed to, and will give accurate data about conversions.

The script can also be directly installed into your site's source code as the image below suggests, but this isn't as reliable as it is classified as a lower priority.

Creating a popup

To start the actual process creating of creating a popup, click on the Create popup button in the Popups & notifications page.

This opens up a menu in which you can configure your popup. In this article we'll focus only to get the popup up and running, but there are plenty of things to customize here, and all the available options can be found in the popup customization article.

The configuration menu opens up on the Card content section, where you can select the appearance of your popup and the types of information it will display. The most popular type is Reviews, which displays public reviews you've published in Trustmary.

In the settings below the content types you can set the popup to for example retrieve reviews from a specific survey or only ones with a particular tag, select how many reviews are included and in what order, and a Call to action text to encourage visitors to click your popup.

Another important thing to get the popup running is the Show on pages section in the popup configuration menu. Here you can set the pages the popup will be shown on or excluded from, the percentage of visitors the popup will be shown to, after which period the popup will be shown again to the visitor, and on which devices should the popup be activated.

By default the popup is set to include all pages under the URL it is installed onto. This is marked with the *-wildcard character, which can also be used to select multiple pages for example under a particular product category (e.g. store.com/category1/*). Also by default, the popup isn't excluded from any page.

The popup is by default shown to all visitors, but this can be set to anything between 0 and 100%. This is usually set to 100%, but 50% can be used with A/B testing of conversions.

In the Show again after setting the popup can be set to display again to the same visitor after a specific amount of minutes, hours, days, or months and the Activate on devices setting lets your control whether the popup triggers on mobile, desktop, or both.

Once these settings are done, just click the Create new button near the bottom of the screen, and your popup is live! In its default form the popup should look something like the one below.
